Fatima Parish, one of the three Parishes in the Ongata Rongai Area, were the hosts of the Annual Deanery Mass on 22nd August 2026.
This was the second such event since the Kiserian Deanery was carved out of Ngong Deanery taking away nine parishes with it. The nine are namely Magadi, Olooloitikoshi, Kandisi, Olekasasi, Kiserian, Nkoroi, St Mary's Ongata Rongai, St Monica Ongata Rongai, and the hosts Fatima. The first joint mass was held at Olekasasi Parish in 2026.
We were privileged to have the Bishop of Ngong, His Lordship Rt Rev John Oballa Owaa, as the main celebrant in the occasion which started at 10:am on the material day with the attendance of 1000 registered participants, besides the clergy, religious and liturgical dancers.
The readings for the day were as follows:- 1st Reading: Ezk 43: 1-7 ; Gospel Mat 23 :1-12.
In his homily, the Bishop, emphasised the impotance of the feast day, the Queenship of Blessed Virgin Mary, that was being celebrated on this day and that Mary was placed above the anglels. When she prays for us we are able to reach her son Jesus who is the Price of Peace. Mary surrendered to God's will without hesitation.
The Gospel of the day is an good example of faily life. God is with us in our lives always. but are we always ready to submit to God's will in our daily lives as Mary did? She taught us to live as God has asked us to live.
He asked attendants to go to shrines in Namanga and Mulot rather than others as they were in our diocese. we should pray together as CMA or CWA so that in challenging times we get support from our fellow members. we must let our faith be the source of our joy. He reminded the congregants that we are the sons of God through baptism.
The CMA Diocesan Moderator introduced all newly elected leaders an touched on the issue of the bishop's Fence. He asked all to contribute towards this project which for various reasons had taken seven years to get started, despite the insecurity at the bishop's residence. Collection targets had been sent to all parish CMA.
The CWA Diocesan moderator touched on issues regarding allowing children under our care to be encouraged to join the seminaries and convents if they had the inclination to do so.
The day ended with photoshoots, planting of a tree by the Bishop and lunch.
